The Difference Between a Maxi Dress and Sundress

“What is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” – Yves Saint Laurent

With the summer temperatures blazing hot every day, all we can think about is staying cool when we are outside. I am always looking to wear something that does not cling to my body and that allows decent air flow so that I am not feeling like I am going to pass out. You can still look stylish without wearing clothes that cling to your body. Remember you wear the clothes but don’t let the clothes wear you lol.

In the summer season, cotton fabrics are literally your best friend and to be specific, cotton dresses should be your item of choice. Most dresses worn during the summer are either maxi dresses or sundresses. I am sure most people get these types of dresses mixed up or think that they are the same, but they are actually different.

A maxi dress is usually form-fitting at the top, floor length, and loose at the bottom. They are cut to flow loosely over your body and have lots of versatility. I love maxi dresses because they are usually found in a bold, bright color or eye-catching pattern.

A sundress is usually a loose-fitting, sleeveless dress that has an open neckline with thin shoulder straps. They are also likely to be made from lightweight, cotton fabric. You may also find sundresses that are backless which is perfect to keep you cool in the hot temperatures.

Both are very informal dresses and perfect to wear in a casual setting for a date night, brunch, bridal shower, or on an island vacation.
