7 Black Fashion Designers You Should Know

As most of us know, fashion is defined as an aesthetic expression at a particular time and goes through several cycles of leaving and returning. For example, flared or bell-bottom pants initially appeared on the scene in the 1960s and later moved into mainstream fashion in the 1970s. I bet people thought that back in the 1970s that this trend would not be here to stay but here we are in 2020 and I still see those pants in stores. I always hear my mom say “Oh, we used to wear those back in the day when I was a kid” so I know that fashion has a cycle and it is likely that a trend will return.

My notion is that fashion is controlled by the designer’s creativity. Fashion designers can combine trends from the past or use a completely new, innovative design that influences how the next season of fashion will be classified. As someone who is fully indulged in fashion, I really admire the creative minds of fashion designers for this reason. It is complete brilliance!

We are living in really tumultuous times as several of our Black brothers and sisters have lost their lives at the hands of racial injustice. We must do everything that we can to uplift one another because if we don’t, who will? Therefore, I would like to take a moment to highlight 7 black fashion designers who are very talented and making a fashion footprint in the industry.
