How I Styled a Thrifted Romper

“Thrifting: an economical way to find fashionable treasures”

When I was a little girl, my mom would shop in second-hand thrift stores quite often and I didn’t understand why but when I got older it made more sense. Thrift stores have a lot of quality clothing for quite a bit less than what it would cost if the clothing was purchased brand new. My mom had an eye for the really nice, quality items and you would never know that she purchased clothing from the thrift store. She inherited that trait from my Nana (grandmother) who also buys some really things from the thrift store. They both passed the thrifting trait down to me lol.

I visit Goodwill quite often to purchase my office attire which usually consists of blazers, pencil skirts, and blouses. Each of those items cost around $5-$8 and I save so much money by shopping in there. Since we are primarily working from home, my focus has shifted to other items that I can wear outside of the office. During my last trip to the GW Boutique in South End Charlotte, I found a really cute floral print jumpsuit for $12.99 which probably would have been closer to $30 had it been brand new. I don’t have a problem with buying things brand new but when I can find gently worn items for less it makes me really ecstatic to save a few dollars!

When I styled my romper, I simply focused on the brightest color in the romper…YELLOW. I paired my yellow sunflower earrings that I purchased from Majesty Acheampong’s boutique with my yellow flats from Forever 21 and sunglasses from Target. These were items that I already had for about a year so no additional money spent there. Sometimes the easiest way to style an item is to pull a color from the item you are wearing a run with it but with good taste of course.
