5 Tips for Wearing Monochromatic Looks

“The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good on you.” – Coco Chanel

Let’s start with the definition of monochromatic. It means to contain or use only one color. Bottom line is to saturate your outfit in one color. This is the time where it is okay to have alot of one color to have a bold outfit.

Here are 5 tips to incorporate when wearing monochromatic looks.

1.   The most important tip is to use clothes that you already have in your closet! This is where the importance of a color coordinated closet comes into play because you will be to see your pieces in a variation of shades. You can easily create outfits this way.

2.   Pick a color that goes well with your skin tone.

3.   Choose pieces of the same hue that have different textures. For example, my jacket is a suede material, top is satin, and pants are faux leather.

4.   Add a pattern to your outfit. I decided to wear a pair of snakeskin boots to give a nice, clear contrast to my outfit. Plus, this print always adds fun!

5.   Try lighter and darker pieces together to give your outfit more depth so it doesn’t appear too matchy-matchy.

I hope these tips encourage you to try the monochromatic trend with some of your outfits!
